Crewe resident William Rogerson conquered the London Marathon in support of the National Deaf Children’s Society on Sunday 27th April.
He chose to fundraise for the National Deaf Children’s Society because his younger sister Marilise is deaf as well as some other family members. Bill’s passionate about the invaluable work of the charity in removing barriers for deaf children.
He’s raised over £2,300 to date for the charity, which supports the UK’s 50,000 deaf children and their families.
Bill lives in Crewe with his fiance Jess, daughter Marnie Rae and parents Bill and Jo.
He said:
“Doing this was the greatest achievement of my life. The weather conditions made it difficult but it was worth it. I ran for the National Deaf Children’s Society as my younger sister Marilise is deaf. So this run was not only for me but for her and every other person who has hearing issues.
“I'd like to thank everybody who helped me along the way - my friends, my family, everyone who donated - and two local pubs for the fundraising they did!”
Melissa Jones, who supports fundraisers for the National Deaf Children’s Society, said:
“I want to say a huge thank you to Bill for taking on this challenge for us. To conquer the London Marathon is a fantastic achievement. We’re so proud of what you’ve achieved.
“The National Deaf Children’s Society is dedicated to supporting the UK’s deaf children and their families. The efforts of selfless fundraisers such as Bill will help us to keep on doing our vital work, now and into the future.”
