Closure order granted for property in Winsford

A property in Winsford which was involved in drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour has been shut down by officers.

A closure order for an address on High Street was granted at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 4 July.

This comes after officers from the Winsford Beat Management Team provided evidence of a sustained period of drug-related activity and associated anti-social behaviour (ASB) by the occupants.

The closure will last for three months and will then be reviewed.

During that period the occupants, a 37-year-old woman and a 44-year-old woman, will need to find alternative accommodation.

PC Wayne Thomas said:

“The closure was obtained with the assistance of the local community and the closure will provide welcome respite to the wider community.

“I hope that this closure will serve as a warning that people who choose to behave in this way can lose their homes as a consequence of their actions.

“The ASB closure is a stand-alone order which is just one of the tools which are being used by Cheshire Police to tackle criminal activity within the community.

“I would urge anyone who has concerns about ASB-related issues to please report it to us and will do everything we can to tackle it.”
