To mark Neighbourhood Policing Week, Crewe local policing unit are highlighting the work they will be doing with the local community.
From targeting anti-social behaviour and knife crime to handing out SelectaDNA kits for property marking and promoting resident’s voice by engaging with the local community.
On Thursday 20 January and Friday 21 January members from the neighbourhood policing team will be at the Market Hall in Crewe and the public are encouraged to come and see them. Police Community Support Officer’s (PCSOs) will be on hand to offer advice to the public about home security and provide SelectaDNA property-marking kits.
As part of this activity they will also be offering members of the public free bike marking kits. They will be on hand to mark and register the kits that help to prevent and detect theft of bikes.
Officers will also be promoting residents voice. Members from Crewe Town Council will be present alongside the police to engage and assist residents in any way they can as well as providing information on the town centre re-development project.
On Thursday officers will be targeting anti-social behaviour hotspots in Nantwich.
There will also be a focus on rural crime during Neighbourhood Policing Week, with Cheshire Constabulary’s rural crime team, who will be specifically looking at crimes that involve waste.
As part of the continued work and action against knife crime members of Crewe neighbourhood policing team will be out at key designated locations offering bleed kits funded by the council.
PCSOs will be distributing the kits throughout the week, giving advice to those receiving the kits and providing them with access to relevant training.
Officers from the team will be conducting knife sweeps in key locations around Crewe and Nantwich.
Another focus will be on crime prevention and finding ways to fight crime in the Crewe area. Officers will be providing local businesses a SelectaDNA property marking business kit that helps to prevent crime. The kits come with a number of posters that can be displayed inside the store to deter offenders.
Sergeant Steve Tandy, at Crewe local policing unit, said: “The week of action is a chance for officers to be accessible for residents to come and see them to talk about what issues they have within their community.
“While they can receive help and advice it also gives officers the opportunity to showcase what great work is ongoing in the community and what support is available.”
