Cheshire East Council is asking for views on a proposed vision for the local transport network, which will form the basis of a future transport plan.
The plan will set out the authority’s framework for future transport investment to grow the economy, improve the wellbeing of our community, reduce environmental impacts and improve connections for all.
The consultation, which has been open for six weeks and has a further two weeks left to run, has already received a high level of engagement. As we move towards the Easter holiday season, the council is now asking for anyone who has not fed into the consultation yet to have their say.
Councillor Mark Goldsmith, chair of Cheshire East Council’s highways and transport committee, said:
“This is a vital consultation which will help shape what is the most important transport plan for our borough. The outcomes will inform Cheshire East’s priorities which will feed into the devolution proposals for Cheshire and Warrington and the opportunity to deliver a step change in transport.
“Transport and travel play a crucial role in our everyday lives. We need to plan a transport network that is fit for the future – one that connects to jobs, education, healthcare, and leisure facilities, while supporting a healthier and more sustainable environment.
“A vision and set of aims and priorities has been developed, but we really want to know what our residents have to say. We are aspiring to create a transport strategy that reflects local needs and aspirations. So, the question is: does our vision match yours? This is your chance to tell us.”
Feedback on the draft consultation can be provided via:
If you’re not able to complete the consultation online, paper copies of the questionnaires and brochures are available at our libraries and leisure centres.
This short, animated video has been produced to provide an overview of why it is important to have your say on the consultation, which closes on Monday 21st April...
