JOIN THE POTTERIES CENTRE IN A JUBILANT WEEK OF ACTIVITIES

A ‘Crack the Code’ challenge, a royal-themed window competition and a range of kid’s crafts are among the activities announced as part of The Potteries Centre’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Beginning on the 28th of May, Stoke-on-Trent's leading shopping, dining and leisure destination is set to see a string of Jubilee activities including kids crafts and face painting to mark the Queen’s 70th year on the throne.

Throughout the week, visitors can vote for their favourite Jubilee-themed window displays, with a raft of stores and restaurants taking part in the festivities. The likes of the BB's, The Entertainer, Lush, The Perfume Shop, The Candle Shop and Jack & Jones will be vying for the ‘best display’ award.

Visitors are also invited to take part in the ‘Crack the Code’ event, where budding codebreakers can seek out images of the Queen containing ten secret numbers throughout the centre to break open the safe and access the ‘crown jewels’, with prizes including store gift cards.

Continuing the regal theme, visitors will get a chance to try out a throne for size or pose for selfies on the Jubilee-themed bench, all soundtracked by a patriotic playlist courtesy of the centre’s sound systems.

Commenting on the upcoming celebrations, Amy Whittaker, general manager at The Potteries Centre, said:

“We’re looking forward to welcoming our visitors throughout the half term break to take part in our fantastic selection of Jubilee celebrations - there’s so much going on throughout the week, with something for everyone. Whether you’re keen to get involved in crafting, safe breaking or practising your regal wave whilst trying out the throne, we’re inviting you to join us to commemorate this very special, one-in-a-lifetime occasion.

“We are excited to invite some of our younger visitors to get creative with crafts and face painting, while teens can try out some traditional games such as chess and Connect Four or partake in the national game of football-albeit in a table format.

“It’s always a pleasure to recognise such monumental milestones like this with our visitors and the local community, and we’re confident it will be a week to remember.”
More information on the planned activities can be found below, and on The Potteries Centre website.

Saturday 28th May - Families will be treated to Jubilee face painting and a selection of kids crafts to get stuck into, including fun activities like making a peg soldier or decorating crown cookies.

Saturday 28th May - Sunday 5 June - Throughout the entire week, stores and restaurants will be getting involved by taking part in a Jubilee-themed window display competition, where visitors can vote for their favourite via the centre’s social media channels. The store with the most votes will win a prize.

Tuesday 31st May - Friday 3 June - Visitors can try their hands at the ‘Crack the Code’ event. There will be ten numbered images of the Queen located in store windows for visitors to hunt down, collect the numbers and bring them back to the centre’s safe, working to crack the code and bag a store gift card.

The Potteries Centre opening hours for the Jubilee week are Monday 30th May - Friday 3 June - 9am to 6pm.
