Thousands of people turned out to witness the first 2022 Krazy Races soapbox race - just a few weeks before the karts head to Northwich’s Verdin Park.
The charity event, which will support Macmillan Cancer, will take place in Northwich on June 26th and is expected to match the success of the Shrewsbury event held in May.
Sarah Belcher, of Sarah Belcher Events, said: “We’re expecting teams to fill every spot we have in Northwich and, after seeing the phenomenal turn-out in Shrewsbury, are expecting thousands to visit Verdin Park to watch them race.
“Many who came to watch in Shrewsbury are now looking to enter their own team at either our Northwich event or our Wolverhampton event, which is taking place in August. Everyone wants to have a go at soapbox racing!
“We have seen an influx of entries since the success of our first event but we still have space for a few more and anyone wanting to take part should enter now as the deadline is this Friday.”
Teams taking part also raise money for their chosen charities alongside the event’s charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support.
In Shrewsbury, kart themes ranged from Ghostbusters to Hot Wheels and even Unicorns - and the organisers cannot wait to see what Northwich has in store.
“Northwich Krazy Races will be a great day out for those participating as well as spectators, and there’s far more to it than just racing a soapbox down a hill,” Sarah adds.
“Teams are expected to design their soapbox so it fits our theme - Krazy! They must also do a short performance before racing, and they’ll be judged on this as well as their speed.
“Of course, it’s all in the name of charity and we encourage any businesses, charities or individuals to come along and raise money. It’s a great way to fundraise, will get your name out there to a huge audience… and it’s loads of fun!”
Krazy Races will be coming to Verdin Park in Northwich on June 26th and is free for spectators to attend.
Anyone wishing to enter a team to race should do so by this Friday, June 10th.
