Macclesfield Male Voice Choir was established 60 years ago, and proudly hold the Ambassador of Macclesfield Civic Award for their success in representing the town both nationally and internationally.
We greatly value the local support which our 50 or so choristers have generated entertaining the people of East Cheshire and beyond, and a key factor of this has been the strength of our relationships with other local organisations, hence this email to you today.
Sadly the COVID-19 pandemic has brought everything in our world to a standstill, with obvious effects on the choir's camaraderie and income this year. Our choristers are residents of the Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Congleton areas and we have maintained telephone and social media contacts with each other to offer support and keep the 'team' together in what could be a long break from live activity, maybe not resuming until 2021.
A group of members are using the current downtime to work on a developing both medium and long term plans to create a very positive future for the choir on its return. The first decision was to retain the services of our professional music team, which is seen as vital to getting up and running again quickly when that is possible. The Choir Facebook site is now used more fully to give both members, and others, more information about the Choir and the choristers. Some super personal insights have been posted at https://www.facebook.com/MacclesfieldMaleVoiceChoir
At the latest in early 2021 we plan to resume rehearsals and a full concert programme, and will advise you of the dates when we can. Any support and help you can give us with publicity for these concerts would of course be most welcome! We are also planning a recruitment drive, especially for younger singers, and if you should know of anyone who enjoys singing and would like to join a choir, please note that previous experience is not a requirement. If you do know of someone who may be interest ask them to contact our Secretary at mmvc.secretariat@gmail.com or call 01625 429403.
