Up to one thousand free meals will be available to children in and around Macclesfield this half term.
All families whose children receive free school meals will be eligible to order lunch or evening dishes for under 16s from Fina Bar and Grill between Monday 26th and Friday 30th October.
Fina Bar and Grill in Macclesfield is working with BBI, Macc Motors and P R Jones to fund and provide meals to ensure no child goes hungry this half term.
The initiative is one of many launched across the UK after the attempt from England footballer Marcus Rashford to get the government to provide meals for the poorest children was defeated in the Commons this week.
Parents can order a dish from the children’s main menu between 10am and 12pm for lunch time or between 3pm and 5pm for dinner time by calling the restaurant on 01625 618744 or emailing info@finabarandgrill.co.uk.
Meals from the children’s menu are suitable for under 10s, and a special menu for 10 to 16-year olds will available on the Fina Bar and Grill Facebook page.
Meals are takeout only, must be collected and children aged from four to 16 are applicable. Delivery of meals in special circumstances may be available.
Ales Pogacar, who owns Fina Bar and Grill alongside Ben Shajirat said: “Thanks to kind donations from a number of neighbouring local businesses and our suppliers, we will be working together to cook and provide free meals to families that may otherwise struggle financially during the half term break.
“For many families, an extra week’s worth of food when the children are not in school can cause a strain financially and means some children or parents go without. We want to help make sure that doesn’t happen.”
With donations from BBI, Macc Motors and P R Jones, the family run restaurant has up to 1000 meals available over the five days to help up to 200 families a day.
Jon Butler, Managing Director of BBI, said: “In the current environment, times are harder than ever for a lot of families, and so it’s important we work together in the community and all look after each other. We really hope that those that need it take up the offer and that it is one less thing for families to worry about.”
Items on the children menu are:
Lasagne
Penne pasta in tomato and basil sauce
Penne with meatballs in tomato sauce
Traditional spaghetti Bolognese
Bread crumbed chicken with chips
Pizza with a choice of toppings
