A £5 million drive to boost the international profile of the North of England has been launched.
Senior politicians gathered at Manchester Airport to make the announcement. The idea is to highlight the strengths of various towns and cities to create global appeal.
Manchester Airport then wants to share these success stories with the near thirty-million passenger who travel through the UK’s third largest air passenger terminal every year.
New images from different places will be added to various sites across the airport every month – as well as going heavy on social media.
Northern Powerhouse Minister Jake Berry was joined by Manchester Airport CEO Andrew Cowan as they unveiled a collection of Northern Powerhouse images displaying a diverse range of subjects from sport, natural beauty and universities to exporting businesses.
Andrew Cowan said of the event:
“Manchester Airport has a critical role to play in driving growth across the North by connecting it to the world’s most important market.
As well as providing direct access to more than 210 international destinations, we are always eager to promote the collective strengths of the North to those travelling through the airport, whether that be for business or leisure.“
