Officers investigating an attempted robbery in Wilmslow are appealing for witnesses and video footage.
At around 4.45pm on Wednesday 9 October, officers in Wilmslow received a call from a member of the public reporting an attempted robbery.
The caller reported that the victim, a 24-year-old man, had been cycling along Epson Avenue, Handforth, when he was approached by two men on one moped and another on his own bike.
The men demanded the victim hand over his possessions to them, to which he refused, pushing one of the advancing men away.
The men then proceeded to chase the man through the car park of the nearby retail park, with the caller reporting that one of them had shouted "stab him, stab him" as he was chased - no knife was seen however.
Luckily the man escaped, entering a nearby gym, but the men stayed in the area circling the car park in an attempt to find the victim - they later left the scene.
The men were described as being between 18 and 24 years of age, wearing balaclavas and visors and were riding petrol bikes.
Detective Sergeant Thomas Binder, of Macclesfield CID, said:
“Even though, thankfully, nothing was stolen nor no one was harmed during this particularly alarming incident, we are now working to trace those responsible.
“This incident happened at a busy time of day, so we are looking for anyone who may have witnessed what happened or had seen anything suspicious around the time of the incident, to get in touch with us.
“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may help us with our investigation.”
