Residents invited to help shape the future of Cheshire East

Residents across Cheshire East are being invited to share their views on life in the borough as part of the Cheshire East Residents' Survey 2026.

Around 17,000 randomly selected households will receive a survey invitation through their letterbox from next week, giving local people the opportunity to share their views and experiences of living in Cheshire East. Topics include their local area, council services, community safety, health and wellbeing, and digital access. 

The survey is being independently managed by BMG Research on behalf of Cheshire East Council. Responses will help build an accurate picture of what matters most to residents, their experiences of living in Cheshire East, and the issues they would like the council to focus on in the future.   

Anyone aged 18 or over living in a selected household can take part. More than one resident at an address is able to complete the survey using their own unique reference number. 

Residents will be encouraged to complete the survey online, although paper questionnaires will also be available for some households and on request. 

Councillor Nick Mannion, leader of Cheshire East Council, said:

"We know people care deeply about their communities and the services they rely on, and that’s why it’s important that we listen to residents across Cheshire East. 

“Unlike consultations on specific projects or proposals, the Residents’ Survey looks at the wider picture of life in Cheshire East, from people’s local area and council services to wellbeing, community safety and opportunities to influence local decision making. “ 

Councillor Michael Gorman, deputy leader of the council, added:

“This is another important part of our approach to listening to residents. Every response helps us build a clearer picture of residents’ priorities and experiences, helping us improve and make more informed decisions about the future. 

"If you receive an invitation, I would strongly encourage you to take part and share your views.” 

Residents who receive a survey invitation can be assured it is genuine. The survey is being carried out independently by BMG Research on behalf of Cheshire East Council, and all responses will be treated in confidence. Households have been selected at random to help ensure the results reflect the views of communities from across Cheshire East. 

The survey will remain open until Wednesday 30 September 2026.
