Bruntwood SciTech, owners of Alderley Park, welcomed Macclesfield MP, David Rutley, recently to showcase the growth in the number of businesses moving to the campus to be part of the world-leading site and highlight the positive impact this is having for employment opportunities for Macclesfield residents.
Alderley Park is the UK’s largest single-site life science and innovation campus and offers more than one million square feet of high specification lab and office space alongside a range of scientific services and bespoke business support, in an iconic setting. These impressive features have enticed over 250 companies made up of 4,500 people, including hundreds of Macclesfield residents, to the Park.
Located just over six miles from Macclesfield, Alderley Park is an important employment base for the town’s residents. Macclesfield is also an ideal location for future employees to establish their homes, with excellent schools, facilities and transport links being available to access the site.
Bruntwood SciTech, a joint venture between Bruntwood and Legal & General, is currently investing £247m into the Park’s masterplan. This has seen the newly re-developed 150,000 square foot ‘Glasshouse’, open in February 2020 which offers high specification, collaborative workspace to tech companies and forward thinking, innovative businesses. Summer of 2022 also saw the completion of a £20m investment into redeveloping 86,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art biology and chemistry labs.
Not only is Alderley Park home to a vast array of high specification labs, it also offers a wide range of amenities, including a conference centre complete with a 232 seat auditorium and meeting rooms, pub and restaurant, gym and outdoor sports pitches.
Speaking after the visit, David said, “Each time I visit Alderley Park, I am impressed by the new development that has taken place on the site. Alderley Park provides hundreds of jobs for Macclesfield residents and is an important part of the local economy and the Cheshire Science Corridor. With more businesses moving to the campus, I look forward to working with Bruntwood SciTech to realise the opportunities that this will have for people and businesses in and around Macclesfield over the years to come.”
