Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to come forward following an aggravated burglary in Knutsford.
At 7.50pm on Wednesday 7th January, police received reports of an incident at an address in Legh Gardens, Knutsford.
It was reported that two unknown men gained access to the property by smashing the rear doors and were believed to be in possession of an axe and a meat cleaver.
They then forced the occupants to open a safe.
The suspects then made off from the scene in possession of a quantity of jewellery and cash. The occupants were not injured during the incident.
The suspects are believed to have made off in the direction of Buckingham Close, dressed all in black and wearing face coverings. They also spoke with what is described as Liverpool accents.
Police Constable Harry Bayley said:
“We understand the concern this incident is likely to cause in the local community and please be assured that we are doing all we can to trace those responsible.
“The occupants were understandably shaken by the incident and we are providing extra attention to the area as a result.
“We would urge anyone who witnesses the incident, or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to please get in touch with us.
“The same goes for anyone who has any relevant CCTV or dashcam footage which could aid our investigation."
