Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage following an attempted robbery of a cash machine in Congleton.
At around 3.15am on Sunday 24 April police were called to reports of a break in at the Morrison’s Daily Store on St Johns Road in the Buglawton area of the town.
Officers attended the scene and found that two people had used an angle grinder to gain entry to the store.
Once inside the offenders attempted to gain access to an ATM machine, but fled the scene empty handed.
The pair then fled the scene on a quad bike, first travelling along Wharfdale Road, before turning onto Harvey Road.
Both of the suspects were described as wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.
Detective Constable Thomas Towe, of Macclesfield CID, said: “Enquiries in relation to this incident are in the early stages and we are keen to hear from anyone with any information that may aid our investigation.
“We know that the offenders used a quad bike and as part of the investigation we are working hard to track the route that they followed.
“Therefore I would ask anyone in the local area who believes they may have seen the offenders on the quad bike, both before or after the incident, to get in touch.
“I would also urge any residents in the local area with CCTV cameras to check their footage between 2.30am and 3.30am on Sunday 24 April to see if there is any trace of the pair.
“I’d urge anyone with any information – no matter how small – to get in touch.”
Information and video footage can be submitted online at https://www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us, or by calling 101, quoting IML 1252768.
