At around 4.55pm on Friday 15 September police were called to reports of a collision on the A533 Northwich Road, Bartington.
Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a Benelli TRK motorbike and a Ford Transit flatbed tipper near to the entrance to Dones View Farm.
A passenger from the motorbike, a 54-year-old female from Runcorn, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital.
Sadly she has since died; her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The rider of the bike, a 53-year-old man from Runcorn, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries; he has since been discharged.
The driver of the tipper, a 29-year-old man from Runcorn, was uninjured.
Inspector Steve Griffiths, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“This was an incredibly tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died.
“As part of our investigation, we are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
"We are especially interested in speaking to the occupants of a red motor car which passed the motorcycle immediately prior to the collision who may have valuable information for the investigators.
“The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage, that may help us determine how this incident occurred."
