Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following a fatal collision near Middlewich.
Shortly after 5.30pm on Thursday 12 December, police were called to a collision on the A54 Holmes Chapel Road, in Sproston.
Officers attended and found the collision involved a grey Range Rover Velar and a white Vauxhall Corsa.
The driver of the Corsa, a 52-year-old woman from Middlewich, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. She was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital, but sadly passed away shortly after arrival. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the Range Rover was also injured during the collision and taken to hospital. The 35-year-old man from Tunstall has since been arrested by police and is assisting them with their enquiries.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Andy Dennison, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“Holmes Chapel Road is one of the main routes around Middlewich and it is likely to have been busy at the time of the collision, so we are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
“We’re also keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen the grey Range Rover Velar or the white Vauxhall Corsa driving in the area prior to the collision,
“The same goes for anyone with any dashcam or video footage which may aid our investigation."
Anyone with any information in relation to the collision is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 1983200, or give the details via:
