The highlight of Bunbury’s social calendar will take place on 25th June with a Medieval Theme.
We are delighted to announce that our guest of honour is the High Sheriff of Cheshire, Jeannie France-Hayhurst. Jeannie is one of 55 High Sheriffs installed in counties and cities all over the UK, all of whom were appointed by Her Majesty the Queen, to promote the wellbeing and prosperity of their region, to keep the peace, uphold the law and support the Judiciary.
We are excited to share the news that we will be joined by a large group from HistoriaNormannis who will be bringing the late 12th century to life, with a mix of craft displays, combat demonstrations and living history. The group love to share their passion for history and look forward to giving us all the chance to handle weapons, armour, and get a sense of what the world was like 800 years ago.
We are also thrilled that we will be joined by our friends from English Heritage’s Beeston Castle who will be setting up a Medieval HQ selling dress up weaponry, providing an opportunity to find out more about their work, as well as a chance to try your hand at junior jousting.
Our evening entertainment will be courtesy of two great bands. The Lost Boys, a Bunbury based covers band, playing R&B with a sprinkling of Rock/Britpop, followed by Green Bullet, a band with a great reputation for delivering a high energy mix of rock, punk and indie covers to suit all tastes.
Of course, no Bunbury Village Day would be complete without a well-stocked bar, a mouth-watering BBQ, a splendid parade led by Chester Brass Band, Bunbury Royalty – the Rose Queen & King, a myriad of stalls, the traditional WI café, a host of thrilling fairground rides and a classic vehicle display.
And don’t forget, we are keen to encourage everyone attending – of whatever age – to get on board with the Medieval theme and we are looking forward to seeing an array of Knights, Princesses, Jesters and Villagers. Medieval characters are most welcome to join the parade… and don’t forget there will be prizes for the best dressed!
