Three cars seized following Alderley Edge car meet deployment

Officers have seized three cars following reports of dangerous and anti-social driving at a car meet in Alderley Edge.

On Sunday 30th August, officers from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit responded to reports of illegal car meetings taking place across the Alderley Edge area.

Following a number post-event enquiries, officers identified three vehicles that had, amongst others, been committing road traffic offences.

These offences included vehicles being driven without due care and attention and drivers being seen to use a phone whilst behind the wheel.

The owners of the cars, a blue BMW M4, a white Toyota Supra and a black BMW M140i, were subsequently located and the vehicles seized under section 59 of the Road Traffic Act.

Chief Inspector Zoe Bowden, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said:

“We know that dangerous driving and large-scale illegal car meets are a real issue for residents in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow, which is why we regularly conduct proactive operations to provide some reassurance and act as a warning to those planning to come to Cheshire to engage in reckless activities.

“As part of efforts to further deter anti-social driving, officers also regularly review social media content posted by these show-boaters who think they can use the roads of Alderley Edge as their own personal racetracks.

“Like the owners of the three vehicles we seized following the car meeting on the Bank Holiday Weekend, anyone caught committing driving offences can look forward to a visit from officers and expect to see their beloved cars on the back of our flatbed lorries.”
