Detectives have charged two men with a variety of offences following two incidents in Winsford.
At around 10pm on Saturday 12th September, police were made aware of an altercation near to the Hive in Winsford. During the incident, a 32-year-old local man sustained serious facial injuries.
Then, at around 2.45am on Monday 14th September, police were made aware of a report of criminal damage at an address in the Wharton area, which was later established to be linked.
An investigation into the incidents was launched resulting in the arrest of five men and one woman.
Following questioning, Wayne Farinha, aged 47, from Winsford, has been charged with section 18 assault and possession of a weapon in a public place.
Joshua Furmedge, aged 32, from Winsford, has been charged with possession of a weapon in a public place, affray and criminal damage.
Both men have been remanded in custody and are set to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 16 September.
The remaining defendants have been released pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Ross Hamilton, of Northwich CID, said:
“I would like to reassure residents that these are believed to be isolated incidents and there is no risk to the general public.
“Two men have already been charged, and are they are both being held in custody. I would urge anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to a local officer or call 101.”
