Regular visitors to Nantwich Food Festival know they can expect high quality events as well as good food in the festival that runs this year for three full days from 29th to 31st August.
The Food History Walking Tours, which were introduced last year, were so popular that they have again been organised, with both Breakfast and Lunch Tours available to book via the festival website:
The breakfast/brunch tours start at 9 for 9.30am on Friday and Saturday and 9.30 for 10am on Sunday.
Edwards Deli is the first venue for a mini-matcha and acai smoothie bowl, then it’s onto Upstairs at the Bookshop, where Denise and Steve - originally from South Africa - will give us a savoury breakfast taster based on Bobotie - curried mince beef and scrambled egg on toast (veggie option available). Finally we’ll pop into Cafe de Paris for a coffee and cake taster (Friday and Saturday) and Bear and Boost at Running Bear on Sunday.
Due to the nature of the tour, dietary requirements or allergies cannot be accommodated.
Lunchtime tours start at the Museum at 11 for 11.30 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The tour will work its way down to Welsh Row taking in some food history of Nantwich on the way. Our first venue is the historic Black Lion, where Landlord and great chef, Darren provides some tasty treats showcasing his meat supplier Longman’s farm shop, along with Weetwood Beer. Vegetarian options will also be available.
Then we will head back up Welsh Row past Moss Café and the delectable Rolling Pin Bakery, both of whom are giving every walking tour participant a discount voucher to use when next visiting them.
The final venue is the fabulous Nantwich Cheese Shop where Nick will give us tasters of Wrenbury Cider along with cheeses that work well with a cider accompaniment. Shropshire Kombucha will be providing a non-alcoholic alternative if required.
