Shortly after 12am on Tuesday 25 June police were called to reports of an incident at the Queens Arms on Dene Drive, Winsford.
Officers attended the scene and found there had been an altercation between a group of unknown men.
During the incident, an 82-year-old local man had sustained a wound to his head. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home.

Detective Constable Kelly Mitchell, of Northwich CID, said:
“We believe that the victim was an innocent man who was simply caught in the crossfire, and we are committed to doing all we can to identify those responsible.
“As part of ongoing enquiries, we would like to hear from anyone who was in the pub at the time and believed they may have witnessed the incident.
“We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who recognises the two men in the CCTV images, as we believe they may be able to aid our investigation.
