Cheshire Rural Touring Arts (CRTA) has released its autumn artistic programme and there’s plenty to see in the borough this season.
Performances can be enjoyed at village halls, scouts halls and schools as the theatre truly comes to the people. CRTA is a partnership between Cheshire East Council and Cheshire West and Chester Council and is funded by Arts Council England. It delivers high-quality professional performances in intimate spaces across the county.
Among the varied entertainment for the coming season, there will be a physical theatre performance of ‘Tiger Lady’ by the Dead Rabbits Theatre at Plumley Village Hall on Saturday 7 October. This show won the accolade of best immersive show at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Another intriguing show comes in the form of the Shakespeare based frolic ‘Your Bard’, where the great playwright himself addresses concerns over the legitimacy of his writing with a professor. You need to get yourself over to Audlem Scout and Village Hall for that one on Saturday 21 October.
This Saturday (30th September) at the Electric Picture House in Congleton, theatre-goers will be treated to an epic seaside tale called ‘Hero and Leander’ told through the talented multi-instrumentalists of Jack Dean and Company. An amalgamation of the folk and indie genres combined with sea shanties and choral music will be there for all to enjoy.
Councillor Nick Mannion, vice chair of Cheshire East Council’s economy and growth committee, said:
“As a predominantly rural county, shows like these are the lifeblood of our villages and also provide great opportunities for theatres to come and perform in places that they wouldn’t always get to show off their talents.
“It’s a two-way win and I do hope that as many of our residents and visitors to the borough will get a chance to enjoy one of the varied shows taking place this autumn.”
