A property in Winsford, which was used as the hub for illegal drug activity in the town, has been closed down thanks to the work of local officers.
On Wednesday 29 September, officers from the local Beat Team attended Crewe Magistrates’ Court where they were granted a closure order for the property on Dart Walk.
The order was granted under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and will see the house boarded up for 3 months.
Regular checks will be conducted at the property to ensure that the closure order has not been breached.
If anyone is found to have breached the order they are liable to arrest and up to six months’ prison, and/or a £5,000 fine.
Officers secured the order by providing a catalogue of evidence in relation to illegal drug related activity.
As a result of their hard work, the occupants of the premises were ordered to leave the address and find alternative accommodation.
Police Constable Wayne Thomas said: “I know that the local community will be thankful for our efforts in closing down this property which has brought nothing but misery to residents over recent times.
“Officers worked to secure this order following on from drug activity in and around the address and shows how we will act on any piece of information provided to us by the public no matter how big or small.
“Hopefully this will now allow the neighbourhood to get back to some normality and move on from the disruptive behaviour experienced by the property.
“Over the coming months, officers will pay passing attention and monitor the property to ensure that there are no breaches of the order and anyone with any concerns should report this to us so that we can act quickly.”
Anyone with concerns about drug related activity or anti-social behaviour in their area is encouraged to report it to Cheshire Police on 101 or via:
