Congleton Town Council has produced a Congleton Ale Trail highlighting the 28 pubs serving real ale across the town.
With the help of CAMRA and Congleton’s Ale Taster, Benedict Goodale, the trail promotes and supports almost 40 pubs, bars, and clubs within the town boundary.
The self-guided trail was officially launched at Beartown Brewery’s new taproom ‘The Den’ which is listed as number 23 in the guide. Benedict Goodale had the honour of raising his goblet and declaring the trail officially available to those who drink Good Beer!
Benedict said: “As part of the town’s 750th Charter Year Celebrations, I’m delighted to have been involved in the trail which positively showcases many of our excellent ale houses here in Congleton! Following COVID-19 trading restrictions, resulting in reduced footfall in the town and economic concerns for the evening hospitality industry, we are sure you will agree that this is an excellent opportunity to promote the brewing of beer in Congleton and a great way to discover some new pubs as well as continuing to support your local!”
Benedict continues: “There are no ‘rules’ or ‘rewards’ for completing the trail. It can be followed at your leisure in any order. Hopefully the descriptions and symbols on the leaflet will help in the choice. All that we ask is you have fun with friends exploring the various venues, grabbing a bite to eat washed down with a tipple or two!”
The free trail is available in the participating venues or from the Congleton Information Centre. It is also available to download from the town council website via: www.congleton750.org. Those who visit 12 or more of the drinking establishments on the trial can purchase an Ale Taster Tour T-shirt! On sale in the Information Centre for just £15.
On 29 & 30 October there will be a chance to taste your pick of Ales and Gin at the Ale Taster’s beer festival in Congleton Town Hall. Further information and ticket prices will be available shortly at:
