Congleton celebrates In Bloom success achieving ‘gold’ in the RHS Britain In Bloom UK Finals.
Representatives from the group travelled to an exclusive awards ceremony at Lindley Hall, London to discover how they had performed in the national competition.
BBC One’s The One Show were broadcasting from the glitzy presentation to share in celebrating this year’s RHS Britain in Bloom finalists. Congleton was one of eight finalists competing for the prestigious award of the ‘Best Large Town.’ Congleton came second overall, pipped to the post by Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Congleton was just one of four towns awarded a prestigious gold accolade by the judges.
On hearing the news, Cllr David Brown, who chairs Congleton in Bloom said: “This is a fantastic achievement, we are absolutely delighted and honoured to take home gold in the national finals. The In Bloom team offers its sincere thanks to all the individuals, groups, organisations, businesses, Streetscape team, schools and trusts that supported us. Everybody has worked so hard to showcase Congleton to the rest of Britain. The town looked fabulous this summer which is testament to the dedication, commitment, and passion of all our volunteers.”
David continues: “Next up is the outcome of the regional North West in Bloom judging, we will find out on 20 October how we’ve performed in the best ‘Large Town’ category. When the results are in, we’re definitely throwing a thank you party to celebrate all our amazing volunteers!”
Congleton In Bloom will shortly be releasing an In Bloom calendar for 2023, celebrating 25 years of improving Congleton.
