Congleton is set to welcome the festive season with its annual Christmas Lights Switch-On, taking place on Friday 28th November from 4pm – 8pm in the town centre.
The highlight of the evening, the big switch-on, will take place at 6pm, bringing the town to life with magical lights and festive cheer.
Visitors can enjoy a full programme of entertainment, including performances on the main stage by Rode Hall Silver Band, Shakermaker, and Harry Jones, as well as local school and community groups performing on the community stage at Swan Bank. Street performers and the return of the popular Comedy Elves will add extra fun for all ages.
The Lantern Parade will gather at 5.15pm on Mill Street, setting off at 5.40pm to lead Santa to the big Christmas tree for the switch-on, accompanied by the lively samba group Karamba and Congleton Rugby Club pulling Santa’s sleigh.
Families can also enjoy Santa’s Grotto inside the Town Hall (free entry, with fast-track booking via TicketSource or turn-up on the day).

Plus a children’s zone with festive activities and face painting. Santa will also give a special rooftop wave from The Space at 7pm.
The town centre will host over 40 festive stalls, fairground rides, and a vibrant Market Quarter, alongside town centre shops and hospitality venues open late. The event also features accessible facilities and quiet zones in The Space and Congleton Town Hall to ensure everyone can join in the celebrations.
Congleton Town Mayor, Cllr Robert Brittain said:
"The Christmas Lights Switch-On is a highlight of the year for Congleton. It brings our community together to celebrate, shop local, and enjoy a truly magical festive atmosphere. I can’t wait to see the town sparkle and welcome families, friends, and visitors to celebrate the start of Christmas in Congleton"
Road closures will be in place on High Street, Mill Street, and Swan Bank from 12pm – 10pm to keep the event safe.
This year’s event is made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors:
Bloor Homes, Castle Green Homes, Congleton Market Quarter, Sibelco and Spurstow Capital. Their contributions help bring the festive magic to life in Congleton, from the sparkling lights and Santa’s Grotto to the main stage entertainment and road closures.
