Cheshire East Council secured a successful conviction against a woman illegally boarding animals in a case heard at Crewe Magistrates’ Court last week.
Jacqui Noon, of Green Lane in Disley, pleaded guilty to the charge of operating an unlicensed animal boarding establishment.
Noon was running an unlicensed business called Disley Kennels at the time of her conviction. She received a conditional discharge of 18 months, meaning that she must avoid further offences in this time, or risk being resentenced. Noon was ordered to pay £1,000 in costs and a £26 court surcharge.
Operating a business without the appropriate licence in place, is treated very seriously by Cheshire East Council.

Councillor David Jefferay, chair of Cheshire East Council’s environment and communities committee, said:
“I do hope that as a result of this case, residents will see just how seriously this council treats matters of businesses or individuals operating without an appropriate licence.
“Away from my role as a Cheshire East councillor, my day job is working with dogs. I have two dogs, three cats and rescue chickens, so animal safety and welfare is of the utmost importance to me. My message to any business, whether working with animals or not, is clear: you must have the appropriate licence in place to do so.”
If you are a pet owner and want to ensure the safety of your animal if you need to leave them away from your home, the council encourages all Cheshire East residents to check our latest information on licensed animal keepers working within the borough, at:
