cinch presents Creamfields have announced several local causes and initiatives will be benefitting from the Creamfields Trust this year including St Matthews CE Primary School, Sandymoor School and Stretton Parish Council, following the return of the festival in Daresbury last summer.
The trust which was set up to contribute to the local community will see a number of local schools benefitting, including St Matthews Primary who receive a donation of £6,400 to go towards a new KS2 music curriculum which will be provided by Accent Music Hub together with Charanga Musicianship skills sessions for KS1 pupils and includes a series of projects with four hours of teaching per week.
Commenting on the donation, St Matthews Primary School headteacher Jo Costello said:- “Music helps bind pupils into the wider life of the school. The donation from the Creamfields Trust has paid for a bespoke music enrichment to enhance our music curriculum. Every child in KS2 now has the opportunity to learn to play an instrument and this instrument will remain with them for three years. More children will experience a combination of classroom teaching, instrumental and vocal tuition, opportunities to play in ensembles and the chance to learn from professionals. The instruments include clarinet, trumpet, trombone, violin, and recorder. It’s wonderful to hear the sound of music emulating around the building every afternoon! When young people make music together, they work toward a common goal that has the potential to change lives profoundly for the better.”
Other causes to receive support include Sandymoor School who receive a donation of £3,300 towards the purchase of several brass and wind instruments to be used for KS3 whole class tuition, with the aim to increase the number of students taking 1-2-1 lesson’s and build towards developing a school orchestra. Stretton Parish Council have received a donation of £1200 for the purchase of a new community defibrillator and Sandymoor who receive £300 towards a new communications system for Parish Council meetings.
“We are very grateful to Creamfields for the donation of a portable Defibrillator. This equipment has proven crucial to local communities and because of this kind donation, we will soon have one available 24/7 at the business units at Walnut Tree Farm, Northwich Road, Lower Stretton, supporting the defibs already available within Stretton.” Stretton Parish Council
Over the years Creamfields has worked with many local initiatives including Halton Lodge Homeless Shelter, Daresbury School, Runcorn Veterans Association and St Johns Community Church which saw the team behind Creamfields working alongside the 10,000 hours Foundation to stage a ‘Cream Tea Dance’ for the elderly local community to bring awareness of loneliness and introducing young people to volunteering.
In addition Creamfields continues to work across the five local parishes including Daresbury, Walton, Hatton, Stretton and Moore to empower community groups to embark on important projects which make a real difference to the local area, these donations have gone towards various projects and events including refurbishment of St Johns Community Church Hall, Walton Parish Library, all age events and activities to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee scheduled to take place this year, new planting and tree maintenance, new benches and commissioned artwork for Daresbury Village, sandstone repair work and the annual village Christmas event.
