Greater Manchester Police says a 76 year old man is "fighting for his life" following a collision in Stockport.
Witnesses are being sought to the crash on Chester Road, Stockport yesterday lunchtime, Wednesday November 22.
The 76 year old was treated at the scene at around 12:45pm before being taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
He was the driver of an Audi A5 which was involved in a crash with a skip truck who’s driver was uninjured.
Police Constable Anthony Pye, of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said, “We are doing all we can to support this man’s family at this difficult time and our thoughts are very much with him as he is treated in hospital.
“Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and Chester Road was closed at its junction with Woodford Road for four hours.
“As the collision occurred at a busy time of day, we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it or have any dashcam footage to come forward with information.
“I would also urge anyone who saw the Audi before it was involved in the collision to get in touch so that we can determine exactly what happened.
“Anyone with information or dashcam footage should contact GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting reference number 887 of 22/11/17 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
