Cheshire East Council is inviting residents to take part in a virtual ‘conversation with’ the leader and deputy leader.
Members of the public can submit their questions about any aspect of the council’s work, priorities and policies, and the leader and deputy leader will answer them in a special, pre-recorded question and answer video, to be published in February.
Councillor Sam Corcoran, leader of the council, said: “We want to hear from Cheshire East residents. We want to know what they are concerned about and what they are interested in, and we want to answer their questions about the council’s work.
“In our corporate plan we made a commitment to listen, learn and respond to our residents and to promote a two-way conversation. We are also committed to openness and transparency.
“I hope that this pilot ‘conversation with’ question and answer session will help us to continue building that open two-way conversation with residents.
“We are looking forward to hearing people’s ideas – we know that people really care about their local services and have strong feelings about the council’s work.”
Councillor Craig Browne, deputy leader of the council, said: “If you have a question that you would like to ask us, please send it in. We really value Cheshire East’s diverse communities and welcome questions from people of all backgrounds and from all parts of the borough.
“We already have established ways of engaging with MPs, borough councillors, town and parish councillors, partners etc. This is a way for members of the general public to engage with the council and learn more about our work.
“We know that it is not always easy for people to get along to a council meeting to ask their question, particularly during the pandemic. We’re hoping that this pilot ‘conversation with’ will help more of our residents to engage with us, share their views, and ask the questions they really want the answers to.
“So, please send your questions through to us – we look forward to hearing from you.”
Questions can be submitted online using the form found at:
https://form.cheshireeast.gov.uk/service/conversation_with_the_Leader_and_the_Deputy_Leader
Or can be sent by post to:
Communications Team, Cheshire East Council, , Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ
by 26 January 2022.
Questions submitted after this date may be carried forward to future ‘conversation with’ sessions.
While every effort will be made to answer questions in the ‘conversation with’ video, it may not be possible to answer every question submitted.
