Rotary in Northwich, Northwich Round Table and Northwich Town Council are working to bring a drive-in cinema to Verdin Park at the end of September.
The Covid 19 pandemic has dramatically, and understandably, impacted both events and fundraising activities that traditionally take place in Northwich throughout the year. Many of these events, such as the River Festival and Firefest, and delivered by Rotary in Northwich, Northwich Round Table and the Town Council, along with other partners, have been cancelled or postponed for the foreseeable future. Tom Robb from Roundtable explains that "Charity fundraising has been hit particularly hard, and our ability to support local good causes has suffered, at a time they need our help the most."
Hopefully things are about to change. Together Rotary, Round Table and the Town Council are working with the authorities to bring to Verdin Park, Northwich a drive-in cinema in the evening of both 25th and 26th September. The films will be preceded each night by a music sett from a duo including a nationally known figure.
Tickets for the event will be available on-line and the event itself will be strictly ticket only and limited to a maximum of 100 vehicles each night. Food will be available for purchase at the venue and like everything else being planned it will be ordered, delivered and paid for in a socially distanced manner. Sound from the event will be delivered directly to the cars attending through a (sanitised) system provided by the cinema operator. Attendees will be asked to stay in their vehicles throughout except when visiting the toilets. Safety is paramount. Everyone is reminded that if they have any of the symptoms of Covid 19 they should stay away from the event.
Details are being finalised and once all approvals have been obtained further information about the film selection, the gig, menus, timings, and ticket sales will be published, and also posted on social media.
