Detectives are appealing for members of the public to aid their investigation into an arson incident in Weaverham, near Northwich.
At around 9.40am on Tuesday 13 August a car was deliberately set alight in Lime Avenue, near the Post Office.
Whilst the silver BMW was burning a man wearing a balaclava was seen speeding away from the scene in a blue Vauxhall Insignia car, travelling in the direction of the A49.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with any information or footage that may help their investigation to get in touch.
Detective Constable Tom Leathers, of Northwich CID, said: “Thankfully no-one was hurt as a result of the fire, which was extinguished by firefighters from Northwich Fire Station.
“The vehicle was well alight when firefighters arrived at the scene and we are determined to establish who started the fire and make them face the consequences of their actions.
“As part of our investigation we want to hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything that may be relevant.
“Perhaps you saw the fire being started or have information or CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage in relation to the man wearing a balaclava who was seen fleeing the scene in a blue Vauxhall Insignia.
“We particularly want to speak to a dog walker who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident.”
