Congleton is dressed to impress, as Britain in Bloom judges prepare to arrive in town for a whistle-stop tour.
North West regional judging will take place on Tuesday 26 July followed by National Britain in Bloom judging on Tuesday 2 August 2022. Congleton is one of eight large towns competing in the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals in the Large Town category!
To ensure the town is looking at its best before the judges descend to give their critique, Congleton in Bloom are calling for the community to lend a hand in the penultimate town tidy. Cllr David Brown, who chairs Congleton in Bloom said: “Although the town is looking blooming fabulous, we can’t leave anything to chance. On the evening before judging, we would like to get as many volunteers together to ensure the town centre is looking spic and span. There will be a variety of jobs including litter picking, weeding, and cleaning. If you can spare an hour on either Monday 25 July or Monday 1 August (preferably both) then please put these dates in your diary now. If we get Gold AGAIN, you will be able to say you were part of the award winning team.”
Those joining in are advised to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Everything else; Hi-Viz vests, litter pickers, sacks, gloves and all equipment will be provided. On both occasions meet at 6pm at The Community Garden, Lawton Street.
In 2021 Congleton achieved ‘gold’ in the North West in Bloom competition and scooped the overall winner award for the ‘Best Large Town’. The team are hoping such success can be replicated in this year’s contest.
