Crew members from Knutsford Fire Station are appealing for relatives of former firefighters to get in touch following a fascinating discovery.
During a recent visit to Knutsford Heritage Centre a historic photograph, believed to have been taken sometime in the 20th century, was uncovered.
The image depicts the town’s old fire station along with a horse-drawn fire engine, crew members and other local figures.
Originally operating from a blacksmith shop on Northwich Road, the fire station moved to the Drury Lane site in 1902.
Staff are now appealing for anyone who may have any information on who is pictured in the photograph to get in touch.
The discovery has also prompted the station to delve deeper into its past and is asking anyone who may have old photographs of the station and its crew to send them in.
Knutsford firefighter Erdal Cankaya said: “This image offers a snapshot into the lives of the Knutsford’s firefighters from more than 120 years ago.
"The image has also made us want to look more closely at Knutsford's firefighting history and we would love to see more historic photographs.
“We also really want to speak to anyone who may recognise any of the gentlemen pictured or perhaps have any stories to share regarding firefighting in Knutsford during the 20th century.”
