Music fans can look forward to the return of the annual Knutsford Music Festival, which is set to take place 13-15 August 2021.
The festival, usually held in June, has been pushed back to August with the hope that COVID restrictions will have eased to allow the festival to take place. The programme for this year’s festival has been stripped down to ensure that all events can proceed safely.
Despite a smaller line-up, Knutsford Town Council is excited to announce that two incredible nights of folk music will take place in partnership with BBC Radio’s Mark Radcliffe. Radcliffe has worked with the Town Council for several years to organise the immensely popular Folk at the Theatre nights for the festival. This year the two folk nights will be held at St John’s Church instead of their usual home at the Knutsford Little Theatre, as the church offers a much larger space to accommodate social distancing if necessary.
Festival organisers are excited to announce that the Friday night folk show will be headlined by the sensational Blue Rose Code, which has been hailed “one of the greatest live acts around right now” by Americana UK. Support for the evening will come from local singer-songwriter Sam Lyon, who has recently made her television debut on Sky TV.
Saturday night is also not to be missed as outstanding Folk Award nominee duo The Breath will grace the festival stage as the headline act. The duo, which features 2019 Folk Singer of the Year Riognach Connolly, were due to join the 2020 festival and organisers are thrilled to welcome them back to the 2021 line-up. The duo will be supported by Young Folk Award nominee Amelia Coburn and Stockport-based songwriting duo The Dorman Long.
Tickets will be on sale for both nights at the end of May and can be purchased online via www.knutsfordmusicfestival.com. You can also check out the festival website for a full what’s on for the 2021 event and to keep up to date with current announcements.
