Macclesfield Brain Tumour Survivor to compete for Miss England Crown

At just 26 years old, Holly Worswick, a dedicated secondary school PE teacher from Macclesfield, is proving that resilience and determination can overcome even the toughest challenges.

Despite undergoing five brain surgeries and one ear surgery to treat a benign brain tumour, Holly continues to inspire both her students and her community through her positivity, strength, and commitment to raising awareness of brain tumour symptoms.

Holly’s most recent surgery, in July 2025, resulted in hearing loss in her right ear and ongoing balance issues, making daily life — and even walking the catwalk — a significant challenge. Yet, she refuses to let her condition hold her back.

Holly says:

“I want my journey to show others that life doesn’t stop when you’re faced with something difficult. You can adapt, you can keep going, and you can still make a difference.”

Continuing her mission to inspire others, Holly will compete in one of England’s most prestigious beauty pageants, taking part in the Bare Face, Explore the Nation, Talent (if time allows), Public Vote, and Publicity Queen rounds. For Holly, each category represents a different part of her journey. The Bare Face round is especially meaningful — a celebration of natural beauty and confidence, it challenges contestants to embrace their true selves without makeup. Before her health journey began, Holly never imagined sharing a makeup-free photo publicly, let alone appearing bare-faced in the national press.

She added:

“It’s important to show the younger generation that you don’t need makeup to succeed. Natural beauty and confidence come from within.”

In the Explore the Nation round, Holly will proudly represent her hometown of Macclesfield, having recently gained the title of ‘Miss Macclesfield.’ She will showcase its unique character, community spirit, and beautiful surroundings. The Talent round offers her the chance to express her creativity and passion for sport and movement, while the Public Vote gives her students, family, and supporters the opportunity to cheer her on. Finally, the Publicity Queen round highlights her growing influence as she uses her platform to raise awareness of brain tumour symptoms and promote positivity and resilience.

Holly’s remarkable story has already gained national and international media attention, celebrating her courage and determination. Alongside her pageant journey, she continues to teach full time, motivating her students to stay active and mentally strong. She remains under regular medical review, with her next check-up due in January 2026, and is preparing to trial a hearing aid as part of her recovery.

Through everything, Holly embodies the true meaning of resilience — proving that life-changing diagnoses don’t define you, and that with determination, it’s possible to turn adversity into inspiration.
