Detectives have released CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to following a serious sexual assault in Macclesfield.
Sometime between 8.11pm and 10pm on Saturday 27 February a teenage girl was with friends in the Hurdsfield area when she became separated from them.
A man aged around 19 to 20 years old befriended the girl and walked off with her to Tinkers Wood in Bollington where the assault took place. The girl was able to leave the area and alert a friend.
The man in the CCTV is described as white with a slight tan, being of slim build, and having brown hair with a fringe. He was wearing a dark coloured ‘Nike’ top, with a white Nike swoosh going across the chest, and dark joggers with pockets to the right hand leg. He possibly had a silver chain or necklace around his neck and was wearing a dark coloured ‘snood’ style neck warmer. He was riding a grey mountain bike.
DC Lee Ferris said: “We’ve made numerous enquiries into this incident and as part of our ongoing investigation, we have released a CCTV image of a man we believe may have vital information to help our investigation.
“I’d urge anyone who recognises him or had any information to contact us so they we can progress with our enquiries.
“I would also like to appeal directly to the man in the CCTV image to get in touch.”
Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website (Cheshire.police.uk) quoting IML 927488.
