A man has been banned from entering several commercial properties in Macclesfield, after officers secured a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Ashely Whittaker, of Mill Lane, Macclesfield, was served with the two-year order at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 17 October, following numerous shoplifting incidents across the town.
As a result, the 39-year-old has been banned from entering the B&M Bargains and Tesco stores on Exchange Street, Macclesfield, along with the Cooperative store on West Park Drive and Morrisons in Hurdsfield Green.
If he fails to comply with the CBO, Whittaker will be committing a criminal offence which may result in recall to prison or fine.
Sergeant Matthew Bassirat, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said:
"Whittaker is a rapacious and prolific shoplifter who has been repeatedly taking from local retailers and businesses for a very long time; I hope the issuing of this CBO will deter any further behaviour in the future.
"With it recently being National Safer Business Week, we have intensifying our efforts in tackling business-related crime and anti-social behaviour within Macclesfield, so I hope the granting of this CBO can provide some reassurance to both residents and local retailers that we are doing all we can to deter such incidents."
Anyone who encounters Whittaker breaching the restrictions of his order is urged to contact Cheshire Police via:
