Officers from Cheshire Police have arrested a man and seized a significant quantity of Class A drugs following a successful stop check near Knutsford.
At around 12 noon on Thursday 21 April officers from Cheshire Constabulary’s Roads and Crime Unit, in partnership with the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU), stopped an Audi car on the M6 northbound.
During a search of the vehicle, the officers discovered a significant quantity of cocaine.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old man from Manchester, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
The man is currently being questioned by officers in police custody.
Inspector Anton Sullivan, of the Roads and Crime Unit, said: “This is a great partnership result between ourselves and the NWROCU.
“We are delighted to have seized a significant quantity of illegal drugs that would have been destined for the streets of Cheshire and the wider region.
“The corrosive effect of illegal drugs on communities cannot be understated. Behind every single drug deal there is vulnerability and misery, and we are fully committed to tackling the problem and targeting those involved.”
