Officers from Cheshire Police have charged a man following reports of an incident in Crewe.
At around 3.25pm on Sunday 26th January, police were called to reports of a distressed woman in the Mow Cop area.
Officers attended the scene and arrested a man who was known to the victim on suspicion of assault.
Following questioning, Gareth Carter has since been charged with section 18 assault and intentional strangulation.
The 43-year-old of the Kidsgrove area appeared at Warrington Magistrates’ Court today, Wednesday 29th January, where he was remanded in police custody.
He is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday 26th February.
