The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Cheshire Constabulary to charge Edward Hankey with the sexual assault of a woman.
Edward Hankey is a former World Champion Darts player.
The CPS made the decision to charge the 54-year-old after reviewing a file of evidence from Cheshire Constabulary.
The charge relate to an incident that occurred in Cheshire in September 2021.
Hankey, of Wendover Grove, Berry Hill, Stoke-on-Trent, has been released on bail and will appear before Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 6 April.
Cheshire Constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Hankey are now active and that he has a right to a fair trial.
