A 49-year-old man is set to go to trial for murder following an investigation into the death of a woman in Macclesfield.
Simon Carter, of no fixed address, will appear at Chester Crown Court on 12th January 2026 for a one-week trial.
The trial relates to an investigation into the death of Gwyneth Carter (72) at her home on Pearson Street in Macclesfield on 16th July.
Carter remains detained under the Mental Health Act.
Police are continuing to search for a backpack, red t-shirt, blue t-shirt, and trainers (pictured) and are asking people to check gardens and outbuildings in case they have been discarded there.
