A murder investigation is continuing following the death of a man in Crewe.
At around 9.40pm on Friday 3 January police were informed that a man had been found with serious injuries at a flat in Lord Street.
Police and paramedics attended and sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has since been identified as 41-year-old Mariusz Mokras, who lived in Crewe and was originally from Poland.
His family have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers.
The death is being treated as murder and enquiries are ongoing.
Two men from Crewe, aged 22 and 39, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The 22-year-old has been released on conditional bail and the 39-year-old has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Paul Hughes said: “I understand that incidents of this nature are extremely concerning to the community and I would like to reassure them that we are doing everything we can to establish exactly what has taken place and who was responsible.
“We are at the early stages of our investigation.
“At this time this appears to be an isolated incident.
“Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone with any information that may help our investigation to get in touch.

A scene is currently in place at the address and officers are in attendance to provide reassurance.
