Musica Nova bring a concert of beautiful music to All Saints' Church in Cheadle Hulme on Saturday 1st July.
The concert will open with Fauré's graceful Pavane. We're then delighted to welcome Maxine Molin as the soloist in the Harp Concerto by Austrian composer Dittersdorf.
Maxine enjoys a busy career as a freelance harpist working with some of the UK's leading symphony, opera and ballet orchestras including the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, Opera North and English National Ballet. She has pursued a solo career performing concertos and recitals, and also enjoys playing at weddings and other private events. Maxine has entertained royalty and worked with a range of celebrities as diverse as tenor Russell Watson and rapper Kanye West.
The second half of the concert features music from around the time of World War I. The Banks of Green Willow is an 'Idyll' drawing on English folk song, written in 1913 by George Butterworth, whose life was tragically cut short at the Battle of the Somme.
Musica Nova will close the concert with Ravel's light-hearted and reflective Le Tombeau de Couperin. The composer's wartime experience prompted him to dedicate each movement of the work to friends lost at the Front.
The concert takes place at All Saints’ Church, Church Road, Cheadle Hulme, SK8 7JL on Saturday 1 July 2023 at 7:30pm.
