Nationwide Building Society has confirmed it will be staying in Winsford and is moving to a new branch at Winsford Cross Shopping Centre, demonstrating a continued commitment to the town.
The new branch, situated in new premises at Unit 1a, Winsford Cross Shopping Centre will open on Thursday 21 September, relocating from Nationwide’s current branch at 3 Dene Drive, which will close on Monday 7 August.
Nationwide’s move to a new base is happening as Cheshire West and Chester Council’s ambitious regeneration of Winsford town centre gathers pace.
The Council led redevelopment scheme includes the demolition of some existing buildings and the construction of new and improved spaces for businesses, with a new 168-space car park alongside improvement to walking, cycling access and dedicated cycle storage.
New open public spaces are being created for exciting pop-ups, events and visiting attractions, with more green space in the town centre than ever before, providing a relaxing and pleasant environment for residents and visitors to enjoy.
With this move, Nationwide joins MyDentist, Hollie&Co., Tur&Co., and Specsavers in relocating to new units in Winsford town centre.
Councillor Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation, said:
“I am delighted that Nationwide are continuing their commitment to Winsford and moving to a new branch within the town. This is fantastic news for residents, ensuring they will continue to have access to in-branch banking and services. This shows continued business confidence in Winsford town centre, with the Council’s exciting plans for the town centre’s regeneration helping to drive the local economy.”
Mark Brayton, Branch Network Director North at Nationwide Building Society, said:
“As part of Winsford’s regeneration, we are very pleased to be moving to a new branch within the town. Remaining in the town is important to us, demonstrating our commitment to our branches and our members in Winsford.
“There will be a short gap in our provision as our branch closes at 3 Dene Drive on Monday 7 August before we open at our new location in Winsford Cross Shopping Centre on Thursday 21 September. We appreciate that this might be disruptive for some members, and we will be calling members that we are aware are vulnerable to offer them support and explain their options while the branch is temporarily closed”.
