PRESTBURY PRIMARY SCHOOL’S SAFE RE-OPENING WELCOMED BY MP

David Rutley, Macclesfield MP, recently thanked teachers and support staff at Prestbury Primary School, and those in other schools in and around Macclesfield, for their hard work that has made it possible for pupils to safely return to schools for the Autumn Term.

During David’s visit to the School, Mr Capener, Head Teacher, explained how pleased the teaching staff have been to see their pupils return to school. He also set out the detailed planning and process changes that were required to enable pupils to get back to school.

David heard that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, all aspects of school life have had to be carefully reviewed. This includes the school drop off, the setup of classrooms, break and lunch time arrangements and how parents pick their children up from school. All these elements were appraised and risk assessed in order to make the school COVID compliant and help ensure that pupils could return to school in a safe and timely fashion.

In order to ensure the safety of all the pupils at Prestbury Primary School, the school has installed additional sinks, reinforcing the importance of regularly washing hands to prevent the possible spread of the virus.

Mr Capener explained how classes at the school are being taught in separate class ‘bubbles’ to help keep pupils and staff safe in the school. He emphasised that the aim of all those working at the school and of the additional measures that have been put in place is to help pupils be taught in an environment that is as normal as possible.

Following the visit, David said “Local pupils and their families are very grateful for all the hard work of their teachers in making it possible for them to get back to school. This is vital for their education and development, and also means that parents are better able to get on with their own work. Making this possible requires a huge amount of planning and dedicated services, as was very clear from my meeting with Mr Capener during my very positive visit to Prestbury School.”
