Take advantage of go-too bus service this summer

If you live in the south of the borough, then why not take advantage of Cheshire East Council’s go-too bus service this summer and leave the car at home?

If you are out and about and can catch a picture of the bus on camera, you’ve a chance of winning our competition. Three lucky winners will each receive a prize of three-months’ free travel.

The Go-too summer campaign involves whistlestop tours, roadshows and new destinations started earlier this year, including Bridgemere Garden Centre and Dagfields Crafts and Antiques Centre.

Funded through the government’s rural mobility fund, go-too can only operate in a limited area of the borough where there are no commercial bus services. It is accessible to residents in a wide area south of Nantwich, from Bunbury to the north west of Nantwich and Buerton to the south east, taking in Hankelow, Audlem, Wrenbury, Marbury, Brindley and Bulkeley.

Young people, as well as adults and our older generation, are all finding the service valuable for getting about. Using go-too means there is no need to drive, rely on a family member or neighbour, or book a taxi. Councillor Craig Browne, Cheshire East Council deputy leader and chair of the council’s highways and transport committee, said: “Go-too is proving to be very popular in the south of our borough and we want more people to take advantage of the service.

“Anyone can use it and there has been a steady take-up of new customers, thanks largely to the promotional campaigns and roadshows we have been running. I cannot think of any other service that is so tailored to meeting the day-to-day travel needs of residents living in our rural areas.

“So, get on board and enjoy the convenience of an on-demand bus journey.”

More than 12,000 people have used go-too since it launched in October 2021. Go-too is run by the council’s wholly-owned environmental services company, Ansa, and due to demand, now has two midi 16-seater buses running each day, including Saturday between 7am and 9pm. It is part of a three-year trial, costing £1.25m funded by the Department for Transport.
