A 27-year-old woman has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. Emma Atkins, of Bridge Street, Macclesfield will appear at North Cheshire Magistrates today (30 December).
Police are appealing for witnesses following a deliberate fire at a house in Macclesfield.
At 6.13am on Tuesday 29 December emergency services were called to a fire on the ground floor of a terraced house in Bridge Street, Macclesifeld.
Firefighters rescued a woman in her 20s from a first floor window - she was taken to hospital as a precaution for suspected smoke inhalation.
DC Sarah Sayer said: “We’re currently carrying out a joint investigation with fire investigators from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service to establish the circumstances. I would urge anyone who saw or heard any suspicious behaviour in the hour before the fire to contact us - the same goes for anyone who has CCTV.
“If you were driving on Bridge Street between 5am and 6.15am and have any dashcam footage that may help please get in touch.”
