A kind-hearted Wilmslow man who started dropping off cakes and sandwiches to his neighbours and friends to cheer them up at the beginning of the lockdown went on, along with a team of volunteers, to serve over 110,000 meals to around 350 local households.
As well as continuing to help those in need by delivering food, groceries and providing someone to chat to, the team are gearing up for the festive season with their new initiative called Christmas Hope - to deliver presents and hampers to local families in need and those who are vulnerable.
Robert Topping along with his 'Angels' is working with local businesses and schools who are providing drop off points for gifts to be distributed to the less fortunate during the upcoming festive season.
Robert told wilmslow.co.uk "Many children and families, this year more than ever, have been affected by the economic fallout from the Covid pandemic and we have made it our mission to help as many families as we can. Both locally, and those in South Manchester who have contacted us for our help.
"We are already working with groups who have reached out to us and we ask anyone who needs help to contact us via our Facebook page where they can be assured help and our complete discretion."
He added "The team of Angels will be collecting from the pick up points regularly and we will be ensuring all Covid safety measures are in place, before itemising, wrapping and distributing before Christmas.
"We hope to make a difference to hundreds of children who deserve a good Christmas and live in hope of that they can enjoy the special day."
