Colourful pictures and large sunflowers have been created by those vulnerable and shielding in Cheshire.
DSN distributed the COVID-19 Wellbeing Activity Packs at the start of lockdown in a bid to replace the monthly and weekly meet-ups of their clients, who have a hearing loss and/or memory loss.
Spearheaded by Dr Jenna Wallace, an expert into the links between sensory loss and cognitive decline, the packs included crosswords, word searches and activities to stimulate the brain and colouring pencils and colouring templates for relaxation.
Dr Wallace said: “It would have been so easy for our hard work in helping to provide support and stimulus to clients to just stop during what was such an unsettling time. But we were very pleased to be able to use some of the money from our You, Me and Tea National Lottery Community funding to get these packs into the hands of people that needed it the most. The reaction was terrific.”
One recipient of the packs Graham, 72 from Kelsall, said the packs had been a “marvellous” way to help take up the long hours spent in lockdown.
